Key Takeaways
Recyda’s new AI feature helps you quickly generate new packaging concepts or add data to the platform.
Create projects quickly with prompts: All you need to do is explain your packaging specifications, optionally upload a spreadsheet, and AI will create projects based on the input.
This new innovation helps you work faster by streamlining how you analyse recyclability and EPR costs—for both your existing portfolio and new, innovative packaging concepts.
At Recyda, we support companies in analysing complex packaging portfolios, and help them identify opportunities to enhance recyclability and reduce EPR costs.
Now, with the introduction of AI, we're making this process even more seamless—empowering companies to build more sustainable packaging solutions, faster with greater ease.
Our new AI Packaging Generation feature helps you streamline the creation of innovative packaging variations or seamlessly import your existing portfolio data into Recyda. With it, you can simply:
Get creative and create packaging in Recyda via a prompt—describe components, weights, layers, etc., provide context and even ask AI to do some additional research.
Or upload a spreadsheet (currently supports up to 100 rows) containing your existing packaging data, and use a prompt to explain its structure or add any relevant details for processing.
AI will automatically create projects in Recyda based on your input. From there, you can jump to the results, comparing different options and analysing their impact on Recyclability and EPR.
“There’s often untapped potential within packaging portfolios—to boost recyclability and reduce costs. With our first innovation in this area and many more to follow, we see AI as a powerful catalyst for helping companies uncover and act on this potential - essentially accelerating the shift to more sustainable packaging in the years ahead.”
Vivian Loftin - Co-founder and CMO Recyda
In this article, we further explain how this feature works and how it helps you in your overall packaging portfolio analysis.
How it Works
On the left sidebar, you’ll now see the option to generate new projects with the help of AI. You’ll also see the same option on the workspace homepage.

Within the new AI generation, you have two options:
1) Get creative and write a prompt
By now, AI tools like ChatGPT are likely part of your daily workflow, and crafting effective prompts has become second nature. Great news: you can now bring that same prompting power directly into Recyda!
Simply describe what you want to achieve, the number of projects you want to create, the packaging options you want, its components, layers and properties down to every detail (for e.g. grammage) and hit generate.

2) or upload a packaging file (.xslx Or .csv)
You can also upload your existing packaging data, and use the prompt to describe the data’s structure and any additional details that might be needed to process it.
Note: We currently support uploading spreadsheets of up to 100 rows for optimal processing.

After you hit “Generate”, AI will get to work on processing your data to create your new packaging project(s). We're focused on delivering high-quality results, and you'll see your projects appear in the projects list as soon as the processing is finished.
You can then select a ruleset and directly jump to your recyclability and EPR assessments. If needed, you can always edit the composition entered in by AI and add additional information later.
Please note that this new AI Packaging Generation feature is currently in beta, and we're continuously making improvements. Stay tuned for even better results as we evolve. We're launching this feature for free for a limited time, and usage limits will be based on credits in the future.
Rest assured, the packaging data in your workspace is neither shared or used to train any AI or LLM model.
How it Helps
With the help of AI, you can:
Work faster: by skipping the manual work and letting AI create packaging projects in Recyda.
Reuse your existing files: and let AI interpret their structure and map data into Recyda.
Generate packaging options for improvement: When introducing and testing innovations, you can prompt AI to describe your current packaging and then create multiple new innovative options as new projects in Recyda. You can then easily compare and test these in terms of cost and recyclability.
In the bigger picture, AI helps further streamline how you assess your packaging portfolio in terms of recyclability and EPR obligations across multiple countries.
This is the first of our generative AI features, with many more to follow, all designed with the aim to improve your efficiency and boost innovation, so that you can focus on more impactful work: deriving strategic insights from your packaging portfolio and making high-value decisions.
